African American Museum of History and Culture at Loray Mill

Welcome to the African American Museum of History and Culture at Loray Mill in Gastonia, NC. It is always a pleasure to have visitors from various walks of life. Since opening our doors in February 2019, we have grown exponentially and have enjoyed sharing our history and culture to every guest. Our content focuses on some of the African American trailblazers, inventors and politicians of Gaston County. We also provide coverage on national leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and Ida B. Wells. Lastly, we have rotating displays to commemorate special holidays specific to Black culture like Black History Month, the Coretta Scott King Book Awards and Kwanzaa.

We cannot wait for you to experience the museum physically, but for now, please enjoy our self-guided virtual tour in the comfort and safety of your home. We hope to see you soon and thank you again for visiting us.
